Walking (Activity)

Description and Goals

During the time of the #stayathome movement and quarantine it is very difficult to get in exercise as a part of every day routine. I need to find a way to stay fit, therefore, I decided to take up walking as a form of exercise. To do this safely, I will need to create a thorough plan consisting of routes and times to go on the walk so that I can ensure there is no one else where I will be walking. Additionally, this will both help my mental and physical health. Additionally, I will attempt to walk a little further every day to ensure that I am constantly challenging myself and pushing myself. To measure my goals I will be using my phone to see how many kilometres I walk per week and try to have an upward trend. This will allow me to stay fit and focused on my fitness goals. Further on , I will be tagging my friends on social media from countries world wide to make sure they're staying fit. I will be carrying out this project every day for 2 weeks to ensure I can see some progress, then, I will be deciding if it is helpful and based off of that I will decide to continue or not. Furthermore, I will be doing some research to look into how walking as a form of exercise is regarded in countries to make sure that my friends from different countries won't be violating the law.

My first walk around my house I began realising that I had an issue with dogs around the neighbourhood as they would always be around and I had a phobia from dogs as a child. Therefore, it was a bit challenging to overcome that and push through and continue the walk. I realised that by putting on some light music and never running away from them that they would cause no problem. Additionally, I realised that my feet started hurting after passing by around the distance of 1km. To fix that, I have decided that for the next time, I will do a few feet stretches to ensure that doesn't happen again. To push myself, I have decided to aim for a slightly higher distance travelled each time I went out walking and, to start noticing things I didn't notice before, this will help me see beauty in the little things and have more appreciation for the world we live in. Additionally, I posted y first post on Instagram about the walking to ensure that my friends from different countries can join the movement. This is my first day and I plan to do this daily. It was not easy, however, to make it better next time, I will wear better fit shoes for this task.

This is the 5th Day of my walking experience and I have improved thus far, by a distance of 0.6 km which is great improvement. I would like to make a better improvement in the next 2 days however, I understand that could be challenging. Nevertheless, I will attempt to have a larger improvement within the next couple of days. I really challenged myself in these past couple of days and I came to the realisation that by wearing the more appropriate shoes that it really helped. Further on, I believe that my weakness now comes from my lack of hydration. Therefore, I aim to drink around 2 litres of water a day because I tend to drink around 1 only. This will help push me forward. For this week, I will be planning to drink approximately 2 litres of water.
