Description and Goals
An opportunity has arisen for 4 to 5 dedicated IB students to help with the green initiative and be part of the Green Committee. You need to be interested in community work and the environment.
Personally, I believe climate change is a very large issue that has to be dealt with even if it is by making small changes locally, it could result in a snowball effect that could help save our planet and ecosystems. Today was the first meeting and it was an opportunity to meet the whole group. We all introduced ourselves and presented our aims and objectives for joining up with this group. Furthermore, we shared ideas of how we wanted to approach the issue of lack of recycling in our school and we came up with the idea of advertising recycling throughout the entire school but make different presentations for different year groups to ensure maximum impact. This helped develop my organizational skills as we all brainstormed ideas and ways to appeal to different audiences which gave me an opportunity to experience what it takes to persuade people. In addition, it allowed me to harness some of the tools of persuasion that we learned about in English. I look forward to the next meeting.
Midterm Reflection:
It has been a few months since we first started this group that aims to improve recycling levels in the school hence, result in lower greenhouse emissions for our school. Thus far, we have faced a few issues of organizing gathering times due to us having no free lessons however, I recommended that we meet during lunchtimes which worked for most of the group. So far, we have managed to increase the recycling output instead of garbage output which is great however, unfortunately, the change wasn't as large as I had hoped. However, I am still very happy with the outcome but, for the next term of activity of the group, I hope we can manage to convince even more people to follow suit and recycle. Throughout this project so far, It has been both informative and eyeopening this was a consequence of the research I had to put in alongside my group to ensure that we were presenting accurate and scientific information. This resulted in me being even more passionate about this cause and inspired me to continue with this mission.

Final reflection:
It has been a very amazing experience to be able to finally present all the information I researched alongside equally enthusiastic and keen people. Surprisingly, I found the public speaking very fun, enjoyable, and easier than I had anticipated. On the other hand, I did realize that I can sometimes get frustrated with other people when I am passionate about something therefore, I will definitely work on having a better attitude when working collaboratively. The most challenging situations this project has put me through was surrounding time management and clear communication with fellow group members. Overcoming those challenges helped me achieve my aims of making a change and therefore, I consider it a success.
