Description and Goals
By following a plan of 30 push ups a day and posting the results on Instagram. I will hopefully inspire others to stay fit during this difficult time. Additionally, I will also be building upper body strength which will help in the boxing and the other activities I plan to competitively join after the quarantine. Further on, it will also allow me to become more fit and in shape for my dream summer body. I will make sure to keep a log and pictures of every day to hopefully see an upwards trend in the progress. I have currently started as off March 14th. I aim to work a month on this experience and finish by April 14th.
First day completing this challenge was fun! Right after I woke up, I went into quick stretches and got the 30 push ups done and over with. Unfortunately due to my time out the gym it was a bit of a challenge but if I stay committed to this, I believe that I can get back to the stage I was at and improve further. When I felt the pain kick in, I did not give in but I just took a small break to make sure I don't injure myself. However, I made sure that I met my count of 30. Further on, it became slightly difficult to breathe and because of that, I decided to adapt a breathing strategy that involves exhaling as I am pushing away from starting position and inhaling as I am returning to it. This will allow me to maximize my strength and reach my goal faster.
My fifth day has been slightly better than my first, it was easier to do the exercises with the new breathing technique which ensured that I maximized my efforts. Additionally, today, I realised that my lower chest was a lot weaker and needed to develop it more therefore I started adjusting the grip to gain more focus on that section of the chest. Further on, I feel like this activity is going to be helpful for me because it will help me stay in shape for when I get back to the normal gym schedule and workouts. To help me stay on task, I will be keeping a record of my weight and do some strenuous exercises to see if I am improving.
I plan to follow a program off push ups 30 times a day. All of the push ups will be one after another to make sure they are most effective. Depending on the chest area I would like to target I will hold the push up bars differently. To start off, I would like to target the lower chest and then strengthen it enough to match the strength of my upper chest. After that, I will be doing a central push up to aim for growth of the entire chest . This alongside a healthy diet consisting off 30% protein intake will help me get in shape for summer.
