Horse Riding(Activity)

Description and Goals

I've always loved horses and wanted an opportunity to learn how to ride one. I went through a lot of learning stages. Then , I posted on my Instagram with a little bit about the Egyptian culture and a history of horse riding in Egypt.

I got on the horse for the first time. It was very uncomfortable and irregular and I was a bit worried because it was moving without being stable. However, I realise now that I need to work on my balance as I tend to lean a bit while horse riding. Additionally, I have this fear at the back of my head that the horse will try to throw me off. I need to work on removing that as it has happened to my friend when we went to a safari a few years back.  Despite this fear, I worked hard on keeping my cool and stayed for  a couple of hours to learn how to horse ride. Further on, I managed to be able to control the speed of the horse well and get really comfortable by the end of the session. It was very fun and a great learning curve. At some points, I got frustrated because the person in charge of teaching me assumed I was comfortable with the horse however, I had a discussion with him and told him it was my first time horse riding. Also, he was hitting the horse to make it speed up which I found to be unbearable. I also told him to stop doing that or I would not continue. He listened and decided to teach me how to speed up the horse without any violence (squeezing your thighs slightly or lightly tapping it with your hands).  Finally, when I got home, I decided to make a post about my day and explained a little bit about my experience and the egyptian culture. This post was viewed by many friends across the world which made them learn a little bit more about my culture.

My final lesson, I was a lot more experienced going into this lesson. I have finally managed to get balanced on the horse and well acquainted with the one I ride. It has been a wonderful experience and I realised that my strengths lie in being able to adapt to tough situations in the riding process. For example, if it's crowded and I need to control the horse. Despite the frustrating times, I managed to continue and thrive in horse riding. I was very motivated and the team of people who were there to learn too  were equally motivated. We gave each other pointers and that helped us all get better. Also, people started commenting on my post about the culture and asked a couple of questions which I was very happy to answer. Overall, this experience was enlightening and a great experience to be part off.
