Boxing(Activity)

Description and Goals

Initially, I was planning to start boxing training after the May 2020 examinations however, due to the cancellation, it has given me quite a lot of free time therefore, I wanted to start practicing early. i have always had a passion for boxing and a desire to learn however, never the opportunity to actually start. There was always a reason not to. Right now, all boxing gyms are closed due to COVID19 but, that will not stop me. I plan to workout at home using techniques like shadow boxing. This will help build up my endurance, and stamina. Additionally, it will allow me to grow a stronger respiratory system which will help combat the coronavirus if I do end up getting it. Further on, I will carry out this training everyday for 30 mins with a plan of exercises for boxing , strength, and conditioning to ensure I am in shape and ready for combat when the gyms open up. Additionally, this experience has been listed as creativity because I need to find a lot of home workouts (due to coronavirus) and edit them a little for my environment and to maximize progress.

I started my home workouts to ensure that I am on track to start boxing and ready and in shape. Some difficulties I faced today, was finding the motivation to keep going as I was punching at invisible target. However, by listening to some motivational music in the background, I began to get in the mood and started improving my form slowly. Right now, I need to work on my footwork as it is essential for boxing and it is the root of most of the punching power. Moreover, I planned the next few sessions to ensure that it focuses on footwork.

The goal of this project is to be prepared for the start of my boxing training. Further on, to measure progress, I will be measuring how many punches I can throw in the span of a minute. This will help me both measure my endurance, and speed. Finally, I will be working on punching power however, there is no real way of measuring that right now.

This is my last day of boxing at home . However, the we are still quarantined and this experience has been great fun and I learned a lot. However, it is obviously not the same as real life boxing. Therefore, I hope that the quarantine ends soon so I can actually experience the real life boxing lessons. Despite this, I have learned a lot in these weeks and I quickly realised that my strengths lied in my speed. Also the measurements taken showed progress over the weeks, it shows that there has been an improvement. For the future, I'd like to purchase more equipment to help me practice better and more realistically.
